PHP - 调用API函数时隐藏致命错误

is there a way to hide php fatal errors coming from external api, such as GetResponse?

I setup a function that works fine, but sometimes GetResponse have temporary server errors and if I call my function in one of those times I get a fatal error like this:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Request have return error: Broken pipe at.....

But it's not my mistake, the function and the api are working. Sometimes they work (95% of the times) and sometimes they don't, but I didn't change the code, so it could be only a temporary GetResponse error.

But is there a way to hide those errors and show the page to the user? I tried:

<?php
error_reporting(0);
?>

and the error doesn't appear on the screen but php stops the execution of the page, so the user sees a blank page. Is there a way not to stop the execution of the page? Since the error is not mine, I don't want the execution of the page to stop.

My php code is fine, it's getresponse that shows a fatal error, and that fatal error is transmitted to my server through the API call. I'd like to silence that error.

I tried the @ symbol, like this:

@myfunction();

but I still get the error and the execution of the page stops.

Any help? thanks
