maven setting.xml里面配置的问题

maven localRepository和 mirrors 和 profile里面的repositories和pluginRepositories的具体作用是什么？如何配置？执行顺序是什么？简单解释一下 不要粘贴链接了 谢谢各位大神。。。（还有setting.xml写完了必须放在m2.目录下面吗？能不能随便放个地方，然后项目IDEA配置直接引用）
